by Sydney Stone, PRSA Past President

It’s the end of my term as president, and I am reflecting on the accomplishments of our chapter in 2023. Thank you to everyone who made this year special and kept our chapter strong and vibrant. In my final message to the chapter, I thought I’d let the numbers speak for themselves and tell a story of the work we did. Some of my favorite numbers from this year:

·        200+: Members we boast on our roster from the best organizations and agencies in the Greater Cleveland/Akron area

·        $3,000+: Scholarship dollars given out to students and non-profit members

·        102: Entries in the Cleveland Rocks Awards…the highest number we’ve ever had!

·        84: Winners trophies given out at the Cleveland Rocks Awards

·        45+: New members we welcomed from the PRSA Akron Chapter

·        17: Stellar volunteer Board members who served on this year’s Board

·        Three: New PRSSA University Chapters we are now sponsoring. Welcome University of Akron, University of Mount Union, and Kent State University

·        Eight: Virtual webinars spanning topics from the ethical use of AI to the experience of being a PR practitioner in a warzone, to the AP Stylebooks Inclusive Language Guidelines. All webinars are free to chapter members!

·        Six: In-person events we were able to host including the Cleveland Rocks Awards; the Hill, Lighthouse, Young, and Rising Star Awards; Student Day; and several networking events

·        Two: We had two members be honored with accreditation and accolades from PRSA National. Congratulations Montrie Rucker- Adams who was inducted into the College of Fellows and Nicole Koharik who earned her Accreditation in Public Relations (APR)!

·        One: Very proud president who is grateful to be part of such of a wonderful and passionate group of professionals.

Thank you to everyone who made this year special and kept our chapter strong this year. You are what makes this chapter and PRSA shine. Here’s to 2024, and new opportunities!
