Ann Marie Halal is a global communications professional who enjoys delivering communications strategies that elevate organizations and strengthen teams. She most recently worked for nearly 17 years in corporate communications at Eaton, a global power management company, and is now looking for her next opportunity. She has been a member of Public Relations Society of America since 2011 and previously served on the board of directors for the Greater Cleveland Chapter for four years.
Ann Marie studied journalism in college and started out as a newspaper reporter. When asked about why she decided to get the APR accreditation, she said, “Any true PR experience I learned on the job, and I already had my MBA, so I thought the APR accreditation would be the perfect way to round out my professional education and training. And I was right!” Ann Marie's biggest takeaway from the program was the importance of thoughtful planning in communications strategies and tactics.
During her time at Eaton, she took part in a wide variety of projects. In her professional career she says, “I’m fortunate to have touched so many areas in communications – media, corporate, crisis, digital, financial, sustainability, video, and events, to name a few. Most recently I focused on communications training and technology, and supporting Eaton’s Information Technology organization.”
As a member of PRSA, she feels that the network of supportive, professional contacts and friends she has made over the years has been the most rewarding. She says she values PRSA because she appreciates having a network of people that are both like-minded while also being diverse. She enjoys tapping into each other's experiences and helping one another.

Ann Marie also serves as the professional advisor to the PRSSA chapter at John Carroll University, and is on the professional advisory board for the School of Media and Journalism at Kent State University, her alma mater. When she’s not volunteering her time to PRSA, she says she loves nature and animals, and has been an avid birdwatcher for more than 10 years. “I also enjoy movies, especially off-beat, foreign and independent ones, and love going to the Cinematheque at the Cleveland Institute of Art and the Cleveland International Film Festival,” she said.
