Spotlight on PRSA Board Member Mathuel Browne

Mathuel Browne graduated from Southern Adventist University in 2007 with a Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communication and Media Productions. While attending Southern Adventist University, Mathuel was the MLK Day Community Service Coordinator for 2 years and a Freshman Mentor for 3 years. He then attended Florida State University to achieve his Master’s Degree in Business & International Public Affairs in 2015.
Mathuel has had a lot of work experience over the years. He started out as a Webcast Engineer that worked on projects for companies such as Charles Schwab, Google, and Microsoft.
Mathuel was a Media Specialist in Bolivia. While in Bolivia he worked at a TV station that managed a multi-language satellite hub for five stations across the world.
While being a Digital Strategist in Tallahassee, Florida, Mathuel oversaw the strategy of campaigns while also managing a three-member team for graphic design and digital media content.
Mathuel has also been a Public Affairs Officer for the U.S. Navy Reserve since August 2012 to the present day being a Lieutenant (0-3) supporting U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa/U.S. Sixth Fleet.
Currently, Mathuel is the Communication Lead for the Cloud migration Program within the Federal Reserve System.- Digital Platforms and Web Services from March 2022 to the present day.
Mathuel’s involvement with the Public Relations Student Society of America started as a college student. After moving to Cleveland, he became more involved with the Greater Cleveland PRSA chapter, which included networking with other like-minded professionals. Being introduced to PRSA has made Mathuel appreciate the relationships and skills he has obtained from the organization.
Mathuel stated while joining the PRSA board and taking over as the APR Chair, “It is my responsibility to coordinate panelists applying to be certified with the Accreditation of Public Relations and to encourage more interest in getting the certification.”
While being on the PRSA board there are so many rewarding aspects, having the opportunity to “work with such a smart and motivated group of professionals”, has to be the most rewarding aspect. “I love the events we set up and the interesting perspectives each board member brings.”
Mathuel's main reason and intention to be a part of the PRSSA board are to support something he knows especially because of the impact it can have on professionals both now and in the future.
When Mathuel is not hard at work he loves to spend time with his family, especially his infant son.
Mathuel has a certain fondness for travel, he has worked in various states and even countries. He enjoys fitness and the outdoors, such as hiking and running. He delights in watching foreign films. Mathuel appreciates reading and taking photos as well.
Some fun and interesting facts about Mathuel are that he has traveled to 15 different countries and has lived in 3 of those countries. His entire family covers three different continents. He has expanded his family recently with his wife giving birth to their first son.
