Andrew Horansky, one of the Public Relations Society of America’s Cleveland chapters newest members, has had a unique experience getting to his current position on the corporate communications team at Eaton. Eaton is a company that strives to help people and environment through power machinery.
Andrew started his journey as a foreign service major at Georgetown University with hopes to work in an embassy one day. After an internship with a TV network, Andrew switched gears and spent some time at a television station working his way up to a position as a Senior Reporter/Anchor at WKYC-TV.
After 22 years in television, Andrew decided that a change of pace was necessary, landing him in a position as a senior manager on Eaton's corporate communications team, working closely with the C-suite at Eaton.

One of the things he enjoys about working at Eaton is how he can learn and grow within the company--whether that be straight up the corporate ladder or longitudinally across sectors. Andrew values this experience because, “these are different communications functions outside my own that I think could help me be even more effective.”
One of Andrew's big goals within PRSA and his career are to keep learning. PRSA allows Andrew to stay competitive with the resources that are available and “the thought leadership that they put out, it’s a great tool for benchmarking.”
Andrew is lucky enough to have co-workers and supervisors available as mentors. To mention a few, Kelly Jasco, the VP of diversity and inclusion, and Monica Jackson, who he partners with at Eaton. These colleagues have taken the time to “go off script and talk about their perspectives, their backgrounds, what they've accomplished” and teach things like “what it means to a corporation or how to really work smart and be an effective communicator."
Andrew is looking forward to the future and seeing where his career takes him.
